What is a Fragmented Phrase?

Fragmented phrases, like subordinate clauses, are sometimes confused for sentences. A simple way to correct this grammatical error is to attach the phrase to a nearby sentence. The word group starting with Writing is a verbal phrase, not a sentence.

Fragmented Phrase:	Corrected Sentence:
The engineer worked slowly. Writing PHP code methodically.	The engineer worked slowly, writing PHP code methodically

If the fragmented phrase cannot be attached to a sentence, the phrase should be converted to a complete and independent sentence. It might be necessary to add a subject, a verb or both.
